The Entrance Amsterdam

Work is in full swing on the center side of the central station of Amsterdam. The area is being renovated and improved in phases. The project is called 'De Entree' (the entrance).

Main contractor Max Bögl is commissioned by the City of Amsterdam and is working with twelve partners on the entire area development, including the renewal of the entire light rail network.

Partner Alom Railway engineering & supply was already involved in the tender phase and offered the supply of the rail track. After the tender was successful, the cooperation between Alom and Kersten was started.

Kersten has been supplying all 2D and 3D curved tram rail sections for the De Entree project since 2019. The scope includes both standard rail sections (R200) and sections of increased quality with a hardness of 400Hb. At this moment the engineering of Phase IV has started, which is planned for delivery Q3 and Q4 2020.

Kersten takes care of the engineering, the 2D and 3D bending, the machining and the complete assembly of the track sections for the renewed route. Accuracy is of great importance so that the sections fit together well and can be easily built in.

The curved rail sections will be delivered in lengths of up to 18 meters from Wanssum to the prefabrication location in Rotterdam for further assembly. From there the rail sections are transported by boat to the construction site for ready-to-build-in delivery.

A very pleasant collaboration between all parties resulting in high-quality rail sections.
