Dubai Opera House
Dubai is known for its luxurious hotels, iconic buildings and excellent shopping experiences, making it one of the world’s most popular cities to visit. The city offers everything for great entertaining. The only thing missing was a performing arts theatre. Until now…
The Dubai Opera House
Abrand new contemporary opera house opened its doors to the public. The Dubai Opera provides a venue for high class entertainment productions and performances, including theatre, opera, orchestras, concerts, ballet, fashion shows and live entertainment.
The Opera building
The opera house is located at one of the most prestigious area in Downtown Dubai, at Mohammed Bin Rashid Boulevard. The eye catching building, designed by architect Janus Rostock, is shaped like a dhow, a traditional wooden sailing vessel used in Arabian Gulf waters, as a tribute to Dubai’s maritime history.
It is a one of a kind building with the ability to transform into three modes; from a 2,000-seat performing arts theatre into a concert hall, and into a ‘flat floor’ mode, suitable for banquets and weddings.
The venue also boasts a rooftop restaurant and sky garden with stunning views of the Burj Khalifa and the Dubai Fountain.
Curved facades and canopies
The Dubai Opera complex consists of the main opera building and multiple retail buildings. They are connected by beautiful curved canopies.
The facades of the retail buildings are characterized by 2D- and 3D curved tubes surrounding the buildings, offering a stylish look comparable with the façade of the Burj Khalifa project.
Kersten Middle East is proud to be part of this exquisite building complex. The company is specialised in high quality bending- and rolling works and delivered about 200 pc. of 2D- and 3D bent tubes in multiple radii and complex shapes (tube size 114.3 x 6mm). For the three canopy structures Kersten bent rectangular hollow sections (size 300x200x8mm) in various radii.
