A unique parking space has been realized at the public transport station in Alphen aan de Rijn, The Netherlands. The Bike apple offers space for almost 1,000 bicycles. The construction has a diameter of 27.5 meters and it is 15,5 meters high.
In 2012 the Bike apple won the Dutch National Steel award.
All bent parts of the Bike apple have been bent by Kersten Europe. The outer spiral, the stair ways, the balustrades, the floor construction and even the apple stem. Various sizes tubes and rectangular hollow sections have been bent in various radii.
