Burj al Arab is the most luxurious hotel in the world. It is designed in the shape of the sail of a ship. Burj al Arab is 321m tall.
The hotel is built on an artificial island in Dubai. Reclaiming the land took about two years. Building the hotel took another three years. Burj al Arab opened its doors to the public in December 1999.

The smallest hotel room is 169 m2 and the largest 780 m2. The interior is heavily decorated with gold foil and marble. Room prices vary from $820 to more than $15.000 per night.
