Kersten Europe is supplying window frames for the new Ravensbourne College building in London

As of autumn 2010, Ravensbourne College of London will be presenting itself in a new shape. The college is receiving a new and extremely prestigious building where the students will study as of 2010 and which will also become a social meeting point for the entire campus at the same time.

True to its orientation with the design and media design majors, the college is setting new standards with the central campus building under the motto “We are the future”. The building should be an incentive for the entire campus as well as the students to blaze new and innovative trails in design and their everyday work.

The building’s architecture is arranged to create an open atmosphere based on reciprocity which gives students free space for a lively exchange between the individual academic disciplines. This way, just as much value is ascribed to areas for breaks or places for meeting friends as to the classrooms themselves. At the same time, though, the classrooms are equipped with state-of-the-art technology. One such example are the cutting-edge HDTV studies located in the building.

In total, Kersten Europe supplied over 800 window frames for the exterior facade. They come in diameters of 1164, 1780 and 3305mm and give the building its unmistakable appearance. The aluminium profiles with applied thermal separation were bent at Kersten Europe in Germany, where they were mechanically processed, welded and partially ground smooth on the surfaces. Shipment to the customers was organised by Kersten Europe – partly in the form of special transports. Kersten Europe handled the entire process of constructing the frames within 3 months.
